Le Fumoir d'Antan

In the exceptional decor of the curing shops, discover the origins of a traditional savoir-faire: smoking herring. Three generations of Arseneaus have brought these smokehouses to life. Take the owner’s visit and explore buildings that bear witness to the prosperous era of smoked herring on the Islands. Personal accounts, demonstrations, photographs and objects recount how herring is processed and how this industry has evolved. Also, don’t miss the remarkable sight of thousands of fish hung in preparation for smoking. Finally, chuckle over the contemporary works inspired by herring and drop by the boutique. In-house products and the fragrant odour of the premises is sure to tickle the noses of all gourmets.
